Gallica Conference—Digitising the Heritage of the French National Library (Bibliothèque nationale de France; BnF)

The digital incarnation of the Bibliothèque nationale de France, “Gallica” makes more than 3.5 million documents freely available to the public. With more than 50,000 visits per day, Gallica has been a resounding success. Still, forming a national digital library is no easy task, and different challenges appeared over the successive steps of the project.

At a moment when Bodmer Lab is undertaking an ambitious campaign of digitisation of the exceptional holdings of the Martin Bodmer Foundation—one of the largest private libraries in the world—Sophie Bertrand, head of digital cooperation services and of Gallica, will present the digitisation adventures of the BnF and its partner institutions over twenty years in a lecture titled:
